My Banshee Debut!!

On January 9th, I made my debut as an "extra" in the Cinemax Series: Banshee.... It was such a privilege to work on this show. I hope that many of you watch it. Here are a couple screen grabs, the first of which was tweeted out by Cinemax! Both of these photos are from Season 3 Episode 1...
and here is a photo from last Friday's Episode - me as an Amish woman hanging laundry - circled in red on right side of screen.
More to come...Stay tuned!

Counter Histories: A Documentary Worth Watching!

I recently had the pleasure of being featured in this historical project related to the Civil Rights Movement. It is a documentary about The Friendship 9, a group of African Americans who attended Friendship College and staged a sit-in at a diner in Rock Hill, SC in 1961.

Please take a peek at the video if you get the chance (It is only 8 minutes long...)

Counter Histories: Rock Hill from Southern Foodways on Vimeo.

Much appreciated! *It is a very timely documentary as the "Friendship 9" will have their criminal records cleared this month-- 54 years after the sit-in.

...And a Happy New Year!

Hope everyone's year is off to a good start! My crazy son asked if we could spend New Year's Eve in Times Square, NYC. My initial reaction was "NO WAY, WHAT ARE YOU INSANE?"

But after much politicking, he talked me into it and a hotel was booked. I was so stressed out the night before NYE (in anticipation of the craziness - crowds, pushing, possible protesters etc.)  I broke out in hives again :/ I just do not handle stress well lately.

We headed to NYC at about 10:00 in the morning, meandered around and saw some nice sights, such as the windows in Lord & Taylor, Empire State Building and Two Brothers Pizza ;-) At 1:00 pm we headed to the square. It was already packed with people. We managed to squeeze in after going for what we knew would be our last pee of the day - Thank you TGIF for permitting us to use the bathroom :)

We were barricaded in and had an EXCELLENT spot right near the stage where T Swift would be performing. It was all going according to plan, until the cops came to move everyone away from the stage and back out of the barricades for screening. One cop told us to head to the M&M Store and that he would let us all back in the area where we were. Liar >:-(

Long story short, we got moved up two full blocks, to where we could barely even see the stage :( It took hours and lots of being pushed to get through security... We finally had our spot so we sat down a bit on the sit-upons I am glad I thought to pack...

We still had a decent view of the ball.
15 minutes before the ball dropped these folks next to us got engaged. awwwwwwwww.....
We had to watch Taylor Swift perform on the tv screen since we could barely see her silhouette :/ She sounded great!
and then the ball dropped and we could finally pee!!!! so that was approximately 12 hours without going to the bathroom!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS NOT EASY. We had to make it back to The Port Authority which was several long blocks away before we could locate a bathroom. Of course, neighboring businesses/hotels in Times Square did not want non-guests to use their bathrooms....
Well New Year's in Times Square can now be crossed off my bucket list. Not that it was on it in the first place!!!! And I have newfound appreciation for being able to use the loo whenever I want!
