Could This be the End of the NBA Lockout?

Darn. I was enjoying not hearing about basketball and the overpaid self-righteous players and their run-ins with the law.  *of course, I realize this is only a small fraction of the players ;-)

I'm happy those working at the stadiums and in other supporting roles will now have an income, but as for the basketball players? meh.  Hey, but at least Kim K's husband will have a job now that he may need one.  Fine, I take it all back :D

Are you happy the B Ball season may soon be happening?

Gonna head out and support some small businesses today- oh and study. Have a good one!

P.S. You notice how I carefully craft these posts so as not to offend anybody on either side???? And you thought that was by accident...

No BF Shopping for Me, No Sir!

Ahhhh...just rolling out of bed at 8:20 am.  Once again, I've decided to take a pass on all of the Black Friday festivities.  I must be getting old because the thought of the chaos freaks me out.

Plus, it's not like we really need anything, even though VC pointed out last night that the black bars on top and bottom of the movies we watch on our "antique" TV's seem to be getting bigger the more outdated our TV's get.  Also, words are cut off if they are on the far margins - "Free" shows up as "ree."  But the TV we normally use fits so nicely in the teak TV cabinet and a new TV would mean a new cabinet.  And the wide array of choices is mindboggling.  Still not making any progress with my decision-making abilities...

In what was probably a sign, I had a dream this morning that I walked by a drug store and they were giving out free vouchers.  I waited in line for mine - and it was for $8.00.  I figured I could get whatever I wanted but it ended up the voucher was only good on straw hats with wool flowers - which sold for $49.95 or some hideous flowers made of yarn.  I have a feeling that is what my real BF shopping would have ended up like.
Did you brave Black Friday?

P.S. If anyone can tell me if my feed is set up correctly it would be helpful.  Seems it may still be going through my old blog somehow?  Also, any way to move over the Google Friend Connect or do I need to start from scratch?  It used to be working but not any more... thanks :-)

P.P.S.  Ha ha. I read this back and realized I didn't mention the thought of going Black Friday shopping - for OTHERS!!!  Well, we don't exchange many gifts so it is not worth the BF effort - and it's not like I'll be giving out LCD TV's...

The Great Mattress Debate

Well, VC has been pining for a new mattress for some time now.  He wants a number bed like we have and yet, I gotta tell you, I am hesitant, mainly because he'll be off to college in 2 years and his old mattress still has some life in it, though it's reached the dreaded 8 year mark according to the tag.

It has "life" because for many of those years it was rarely used as it sat in our guest room.  It is no secret that people don't like to come and visit us - kidding ;-)  maybe :D

I would spring for the mattress if his bed was a larger size, but it is a full size and therefore won't fit on the new larger guest bed once he leaves- plus it is too small for our bed.  I am in quite the quandary.  Fortunately as he is a teen, we don't need to worry about any fancy duvet covers.  He is a simple guy.  Although with all his crazy acrobatics he is someone who needs a nice mattress to relieve his aching joints.  I tell him he is like a 65 year old with his knee and wrist braces.

So, let me hear it, do I shell out $700+ bucks for the full size mattress (no box spring is needed)?

The Twenty Minute E-mail

You know where all my studying time is going??  To returning emails.

I just sat here and spent 20 minutes on an email that should have taken 2 minutes tops to compose.  Unlike with the hastily posted updates to this blog, when I send a reply email I'm always second guessing, especially when it involves people like the exact same one I had the run-in with at the grocery store parking lot where I rambled on like an idiot.

How to answer the question, make everyone happy, not offend....A simple "No" becomes an excruciatingly long, drawn out process (in my mind).

This constant ruminating is a huge time suck.  Considering I have 4 tests next Monday-Tuesday and then finals the next week, I need to get my non-inflated with fix-a-flat buttocks in gear.

Thank you for all the good wishes. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

All emails received over the holidays will not receive a thoroughly thought out hand-crafted response ;-)

Would You Trust This Guy With Your Butt?

Shaking my head.

You may have read in the news that dude (yes, dude) for "enhancing" women's butts with substances such as cement, glue and tire sealant.

I question why anyone would want to fakely enhance their butt in the first place. Secondly, if a "guy" had a butt that looked like THAT (judging it from the part that has mushroomed out on his sides since I can't see the back) would he be the one you would want boosting your's???

P.S. I've got finals coming up so if you don't hear from me for a while, please be assured I am not ignoring you, nor am I getting my butt boosted.

Two Posts in One Week!!

I wanted to post about I study that a couple local DJ's were talking about the other day. Only I can't find it...I googled: "study about how many close friends people have vs 1980s" and up came these top 2 recommendations: "DOG- Wikipedia" and "Sexuality, homosexuality and bi-sexuality". Not quite what I was searching for.

The study compared the number of close friends a person has oday vs. back in my glory days, the rockin' 80's. Waaaaaaay back then it was common for people to have 3 to 4 close friends. Now the number is 1-2 (if I am getting that right).

The first two criteria were whether the friend is someone who would lend you money or take you in for an extended period if you are down and out, in which case I have zero close friends because I seriously don't think any of them would be offering either of those. Or maybe they would. I'll need to ask just in case.

What do you think? Silly criteria or true in your case?

P.S. Many people answered that they have 0 close friends, the reason being that (1) they have nothing to say or (2) they have a lot to say but no one wants to hear it...

Whatever Happened to John and Jane?

How Does This Guy Get All the Chicks??

I'm going to ponder something here that I was pondering on Facebook, since it is 6:19 am and I need to be at class at 7:30 am. What better time to blog??? :D

Here's my question: How Does this Man Attract All the Chicks???

Per Answers.com (and you know it has to be accurate if it is on answers.com):
"Dr. Conrad Murray has at least seven children. We know he has at least six children with his wife. In addition, he has a son with his mistress, Nicole Alvarez.
It is unknown if he has anymore children than this." <----------wait a minute, as I suspected, this statement completely FALSE.

Which is good because then it supports the premise of this post, how does a guy with 7 children by 6 different women still manage to attract new hot baby mamas? You could see several of them testifying at the trial.

His personality is hardly "sparkling" Is it because he is tall??? And you know what they say about tall men, or it is big hands, either way.....

Wanna bet that when he gets out of jail, the women will still be fawning over him? Or maybe not, because by then the gravy train will have stopped?

OMG - I'm Back!!!

Thank you to the two people who inquired about my blog being down for 4 days. It's good to feel loved :D

Those of you considering self-hosted wp, this is one of the drawbacks. It seems whenever the host site makes a tweak, I need to go to my domain manager to re-link to the new address. Who knew??? I'm more into the writing of blog posts, what little I've done lately, than the techie part so this is a source of much frustration and had me strongly considering a return to Blogger. Oh yeah, I said Blogger.

But here I am. Oh, did I mention I studied 16+ hours for a lab test last weekend? Yep, I cloistered myself in the house for 3 days, only to show up for class on Tuesday to find the prof. had cancelled class and the exam would now be TAKE HOME!!! GRRRRRRRRR.... I've realized I am spending too much time studying and need to scale back. Of course, just when I do that is when they'll hit me with a doozy.

In other news, I discovered the $42 foundation I had been using last year looks much better than the $12 foundation I am now using. This was discovered by squeezing out a teeny bit I had left in the old tube that was sitting in the drawer. Do I go back to splurging on the $42 foundation or put the extra $30 money for VC's college fund??? Now, that's a tough one!

This time of year is when fancy grocery stores are holding their holiday food tasting events. I encourage you to check them out, as me and MB did today. It will save you having to make dinner and assuming an annoying neighbor does not come along and disrupt your free meal, as happened today, the food can be quite enjoyable. Plus fingers crossed that I'll win one of the gift baskets :-)

It's the simple things that keep me going. Only a month and 2 days til holiday break from school. I CANNOT WAIT!!! Excited about my little "freelance" art opportunity I have this week. If I could parlay that into a regular gig helping artists host openings at their studios, I'd quit college IN A HEARTBEAT. and pass up on the whopping 10.50-$12.00 an hour that I'll have the "opportunity" to make upon graduation as stated in the official Student Handbook.

Remember to turn your clocks back tonight. Extra sleep YAY!!!
