"Look At My Cute Little Feathered Hat!"

What was up with all the morning show coverage of William and Kate's official appearance to christen some boat or some such this morning?

I know it is their first joint public appearance since being engaged blah blah blah, but really, all the discussion about her hair and how she was going to keep it from blowing in her eyes (with a tiny feathered hat tilted just so)???

I cannot think of anything more irrelevant aside from my discussion of roller derby.

It is a good thing the rest of the world is at peace so we can focus on Kate's hairdo du jour and view pictures of her and William shaking hands with local dignitaries. BAH!!

We can see who got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning :D

Oh, and there was a 14 mile back up on the local highway this morning because the State DOT installed a sign and it said "TEST" on it....

and thank you to Val for hinting that I should have posted a picture of the tiny hat. Here it is but it is hard to make out. But it is like a tiny hat covered in feathers.

Bad Carma

They will call me Bad Carma. Who's they? The roller derby chicks, when I get the cojones to join the roller derby team. Kidding!!!! For now.

I joined MB for skating at his adult night skate this week. As we were taking our skates off at the end of the night, we were hanging with a couple roller derby chicks. The husband of one of the chicks is the derby coach, and he asked me what I thought about joining the team :-O)) You know, because I'm so badass ;-)

Yes, I'm nuts for even considering this. But maybe part of me wants to do at least one outrageous thing before I'm too old!!!

As I said in a email to one of my blogging buddies, "I am very polite and non-agressive and ladylike....but I can skate well..."

Doesn't exactly sound like Roller Derby Girl material. Darn!

Do you think I'd fit in with these chicks??

Do you think I'll be spending several months of the year in traction being assisted by those in the very profession I hope to pursue???

P.S. I go into a dead funk around this time of year - when I have to do the taxes...Planning on working on them today so if you don't hear from me in a while you'll know I'm depressed and procrastinating :D Last day to enter my giveaway!

What's Your Opinion? - Female vs. Male Perspective

As I was driving in to work this morning one of the local morning show hosts brought up a story about a Chicago man who was spotted outside the metro station after 2 foot of snow had fallen.

He did not work for the metro, but was shoveling a path from the station to his fiance's car so that she would be able to make it through safely when she left the station. He had this to say to an interviewer, "Whatever it takes to make sure she's OK, that is natural to me." "I'm supposed to make sure if it's snowing, she has a path to walk down. Asking if she had a nice day or even trying to cook for her, whatever it takes."

You can read more here.

One of the male cast members of the morning show had this opinion (jokingly) "What a needy, pathetic, d-bag." <------ his words, not mine.

While the female said, "what a chivalrous, manly-man" and thought it was every girl's dream to have someone do that kind of thing for her.

The guy host figured there must have been some ulterior motive at hand or that the shoveler might be the "controlling" type. Meanwhile a female caller called in to ask if anyone knew if the shoveling dude had a brother.

I'm usually one to think more along the lines of a guy - I once did a post on why I am like a man. But let's just keep that one safely hidden in the archives.

What are your thoughts on this? Chivalrous or Needy

We Need to Keep a Close Eye on This One

I intended to blog about something entirely different (and probably more interesting) this morning, but then when Yahoo! posted as it's top story the blogging teacher who called her kids a bunch of rude, lazy whiners in a blog post, I had to go with it...

As a blogger and former substitute teacher, I spent a lot of time reading the article and accompanying comments. And there are a boatload!!

The teacher, Natalie Munroe from Central Bucks East High School in PA, didn't use her full name on her blog, she went by Natalie M, never identified the school by name or any of the kids in particular. She was just blogging in general terms like most of us do, yet not she has had to hire an attorney in an attempt to keep her job.

Man, I hope she prevails or it will set a crappy precedent for the rest of us.

During my short-lived time as a substitute, I was shocked at how disrespectful some of the kids could be. Even the second graders walked all over me!!!! And this was at your typical suburban school. I eventually came to the conclusion that I had a well-behaved son at home so why did I want to put up with all this crap from kids who weren't my own. I can sympathize with her for sure. And my substitute stint was over 7 years ago. There has been an even greater cultural shift in the years since and I'm sure there is even more guff dispensed by these "little angels" today.

Ms. Munroe spoke the truth, didn't name names or give specifics and yet she has had to hire an attorney. Blogging just doesn't seem to pay these days does it!! That was some costly venting.

One thing I'm curious about though is how her kids discovered the blog- or did she foolishly point it out to them?? I've gone through some great lengths to hide my info from potential searches. For instance, my last name is not Sez ;-) That way when I do eventually graduate and land my big job I'll be able to keep said job.

P.S. Please send me positive vibes about the school admissions evaluation. There is a still a chance my application won't even be reviewed due to the technicality I blogged about earlier. I'm starting to get bummed that I may be delayed a full year. I need to get started on my life overhaul NOW!!!!

P.P.S. If you are a blogger and need some new business cards, why then by all means enter my giveaway. These are not your typical business cards. They have FLAIR!!!!

My Thoughts on the Grammys

First, thank you for all your birthday wishes!!! They warmed my heart xxoo

and now onto my quickly composed Grammy Thoughts:

(1) Someone needs to alert Lady Gaga that the "horn" look has been done before - by that guy who had them permanently implanted. His pic circulated on the web a couple years ago. Horns are so early 2000's

(2) When an obscure artist that no one has ever heard of wins Best New Artist - UGH. I'm sure the voters were trying to show how high brow and musically aware they were by their choice, but come on!!! In this category I think you should at least recognize who the artist is. I felt bad for the Biebs. I really did.

(3) Mick Jagger is skin and bones and was awkward to watch or hear

(4) The Lady Antebellum song is OK. But 5 Grammys????

(5) and eminem only won two??? I stand by my view that he is a musical genius and one of the few originals left these days. He wuz robbed.

(6) did you see when they panned the audience after Rihanna's skanky performance and no one was standing up or cheering loudly - awkward. Drake is growing on me though. He says lines that make no sense in his lispy way yet he has that certain sex appeal. Very bizarre. Best I don't over-examine it :D

(7) Leann Rimes looked better when she was a little fatter.

(8) Ricky Martin's boots with silver pants tucked in. 'nuff said. He has maintained himself impeccably though.

(9) Bob Dylan. Incredibly scratchy sounding.

(10) When stars are known for a song and it is a very popular song they should sing it THE WAY IT IS. Bruno Mars.

Did you watch the Grammys? What did you think?

P.S. Please scroll down and enter my superfab business card giveaway. They are very unique and will make a statement. A good one. Not like Ricky Martin's boots.

You Know What Today Is????

It's my Birthday B*tches!!!!!!!!! ;-)

I was't gonna say anything - but then when I keep updating my mom on the steady stream of birthday wishes coming in on FB, she asked if I had put it up on my blog. I hit myself upside the head and figured I'd post it here as well, cuz lots of attention NEVER GETS OLD!!!!

Another One of My Obsessions

OK, this is another one of those things I should not admit, but it is a fact: I spend a lot of time googling celebrity nose jobs!!! Part of the reason is that I've always hated my nose and regret not getting the bump removed and tip narrowed when I was young. There is no point in doing it now as everybody already knows what my nose looks like and has looked like for 40+ years. To make myself feel better, I google celebrity nose jobs so that I can see that they are not all natural beauties and that some of their original noses were worse than mine :-O

Those rumored to have had nose jobs:
Halle Berry
Megan Fox
Angelina Jolie
Salma Hayek
Charlize Theron
Marilyn Monroe (one of the first)
Kate Hudson
Heidi Klum
Debra Messing
Winona Rider
Tyra Banks
Nicole Richie
Paris Hilton I could go on. But here's one that really surprised me. Look at Christina Hendricks. BTW, this site is a lot of fun if you ever have a few spare minutes:

Gol-ly That is a Transformation!

Well, Well, so much for the rumored "natural beauty." And now I'm done being catty and can get on with the day.

Ever wish you had had something done when you were young so no one would be the wiser???

I Think I May Have a Problem!

Now that I'm done braggin' on my Most Superb son, it's time to start tackling some of my problems, like this one:

I've been saving these containers in my kitchen cabinet for over a year. I have already found uses for a bunch so the pile was originally even higher.

When my mom comes to visit she likes to reorganize my cabinets. She also loads the dishwasher such that everything is perfectly liked up like marching soldiers, as opposed to our method of haphazardly tossing in the dishes.

She brought to my attention that I have wasted a good part of my cabinet space storing these plastic containers. They are from Sara Lee Honey Ham in case you were wondering. And of course you are wondering, for the same reason I copyrighted the photo -- because there is a HUGE INTEREST in plastic containers ;-)

Do you think I am destined to be featured on Hoarders some day?? Please tell me you also save stuff like this. BTW, if you are an artist they are very handy for use as a paint pallet. Put the lid on and your paints stay fresh for a few days.

My mom has asked if she can have another batch of them, which she periodically does to reduce my collection. I'm surprised she didn't have to rip them out of my grubby plastic container hoarding hands!!!

BTW, if you were used to reading my wordpress blog, I've decided to continue posting there until my hosting expires, and even then I may still continue...I'm wishy washy like that, so if you preferred reading the wordpress site, please re-subscribe if you want :-)

Congrats to Most Superb!

We are back from a whirlwind of activity. After driving many hours through rain and fog to attend a juggling festival in a nearby state, we are home and completely exhausted from a whirlwind of activity!!

So much going on this week, but I wanted to get up a quick post to congratulate VC on winning "Most Superb" performer at the festival. He won a coveted PHIL trophy - named after famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil.

This is a HUGE honor in juggling circles. The festival is in its 33rd year and now his name will be a part of its history :-)

My heart was beating a mile a minute as he performed. His performance culminated in a 6 ring pull down while balanced on a walking globe. (in this photo the sixth ring is around his neck)

VC is a very low-key guy, until he turns on the music and starts performing. I literally had tears in my eyes. He has worked so hard at his performing skills over the past five years and was up against some tough competition. This is his first big award.

I've got so many other things to write about but today I'm headed to pick up my mom for a visit this week. I am completely exhausted. I'm buried in paperwork, getting ready to do taxes and still waiting to hear if I'll get accepted to school at which time everything will be turned even more completely upside down....

Pedaling as fast as I can!!

Have a great week everybody :-)

One of These Days

...I'll be the put together mom in the carpool line.

NOT the one who arrived this morning wearing robe, pajama bottoms, no makeup, bed head and glasses!!! I almost thought I'd swing by undetected since the principal was engaged in conversation -

and then he turned around - GAH! - so I waved meekly and then zoomed off, as fast as I could zoom being the car in front of me was taking for-ever. I stopped myself from zipping around then on the left and instead waited for about 5 kids to be unloaded. Plan foiled on all sides!

Are you the put together mom - or the last minute "come as you are" mom????

In my defense, I normally don't drive VC to school, but he was late and it was raining. Yep. That's my excuse for my laziness :D

Well, Color Me Impressed <--- NOT!

I need to stop revealing all my tacky reading/viewing material on this blog as it is making me seem very vapid. Vapid - I love that word!!! Need to use it more...

I was reading People Magazine online this morning - and did you see the article about Claire Danes and the reason she was flying coach????

Oh my gawd, she had to fly coach not because she always flies coach, but because there were no other seats available!! She had to fly back to NYC with her SAG award on coach like the rest of us peasants. Boo hoo hooooo...I'm so upset for her I can barely function this morning.

What a weird world we live in. Did you hear about the Indonesian pop star who was sentenced to jail for 3-1/2 years plus a $25,000 fine for two sex tapes of him that were released by someone else to youtube and circulated there and on facebook.

In the U.S. he would be hailed as the next Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton. In Indonesia, the poor guy got rocks pelted at the car they drove him away in. And people were chanting that the sentence was too light!!

P.S. I just spoke to someone with the last name "Butt" on the phone. I am not kidding. She even spelled it out for me :D

...and now on with the day
