If You Can't Beat 'Em, Join 'Em

The other day I had the opportunity to dust off my almost 20 year old skates (with stoppers so old the plastic has dry rot) to join MB at his new hangout, the rollerskating rink. Word has it that a lot of folks our age, i.e. not young and hip, but not yet ready for shuffleboard, are returning after many years off skates.

I spent my eighties on skates, so while MB claims he is faster than me, I challenge any 17 year old to keep up with me - forward or backwards or shuffle skating.

That's me with the black socks (tee hee)....MB is wearing what VC refers to has his "bathing suit." We are quite a crew.

I really need to stop posting pictures of myself as some of them are cringe worthy. Do you prefer blogs with pictures of the blogger, or do you prefer to read well written posts that leave something to the imagination??

None of this is really the point of my post. Just a question I've been wanting to pose to you - a "hypothetical question" -- supposing your S.O. spends two nights a week (including Saturday) at the skating rink. Would you be considered a beyoooootch if you brought up that this might be a little excessive - or are you squelching his "hobby time."

Someone you do not know ;-) wants to hear your opinion....

P.S. I have no idea what that clear orb is on MB's wrist. It is the exact same thing that happened with my other camera!! Some weird orb specter is haunting my cameras >:-(

Roller skating parties were my most favorite thing ever when I was a kid. And none of that inline madness either. They would put on all the disco lights and Thriller would come on and it would be the best time.

And I love that picture! I like to be able to see who I'm "talking" to. :)

I think it's probably a bit excessive, especially if it's every weekend.

You totally know I'm gonna give you a big high five for the picture! SKATES! YIPEE!!! My husband just bought a $1500 pair of skates that he got on Ebay for $350.... Skating = serious business in my family! You're never too old for wheels on the bottom of your feet!

(I was always told those orbs are angels around you!!... funny how they are always perfectly round though, isnt it?) haha!!

I like seeing pics of who I'm reading. Love the photo too.

Every weekend might be a little excessive unless you like it and want to join the fun.

From belly dancing costumes to black socks... Okay, now I am officially confused!

Two nights a week? Really? That's a bit obsessive, but I guess there are worse hobbies...:)

Roller Skates are the bomb! I spent a whole lotta time in roller rinks as a teen... loved them.

I think the pictures of you are great. I prefer blogs that include pictures of the author, so I hope you keep posting. (But I ain't never going to post a picture of myself on mine.)

That looks like so much fun! I haven't skated in many years.
Personally, I love seeing pictures of the blogger. :)

Some folks say those orbs are ghost...maybe he has one attached to his wrist?

...I'm just sayin.

I haven't skated in...no wait. We took the church kids skating about 5 years ago....it wasn't pretty.

I spent every Friday night at the roller rink as a teen. Even with all the time up on wheels, I still can't go backwards or anything.

Now ice skating...I'm red hot!

I like to see pictures, but I don't most many because I get paranoid haha.

So, after reading others' comments, I am confused. I thought your question was about seeing bloggers in pictures? Am I wrong?
anyhoo, I like the pic and I wish I were a better roller skater as I'd totally go as well (obviously not with you as we live states apart), but I suck. Last time I went was many years ago (holy moly, that's 17 years ago now!!!)during my senior year of high school and I fell right on my butt. That hurt like nothing else. I haven't tried since.

I say, Keep the pictures coming! :-)

The black socks are my favorite part of that photo.

Two nights a week of hobby time isn't totally unreasonable. That one of those nights is always Saturday, however, is definitely unreasonable.

I like the photos you display.

As to the Mister's hobby, whatever floats his boat, I say. You've got nothing to worry about, I bet he really likes you ;-)

Seeing *any* photos on blogs is nice (I have a short attention span so I need pretty pictures to keep me amused). Seeing who's doing the talking on blogs is even nicer.

As regards the skating two nights a week thing: We've naturally tended to make weekend evenings together pretty much sacrosant. Weekdays are so filled with everything else involving other people that it was just important to have that time together. It's not that the hobby in this instance is two nights a week therefore, it's that one of them is a Saturday. I suppose I'd ask why Saturday? Does something *only* happen on a Saturday that he'd miss? If it's just that he'd really like to be out and about on a Saturday night, is there something else this hypothetical person could do with their SO?

Sacrosan*C*t ... don't you just hate it when you press 'publish' then notice a mistake?!

I bet a lot of people like to see personal photos, me too.
About the two nights a week's hobby, I don't think is good or bad in itself, it's subjective, depends on what you feel about it.
I know it doesn't help you ;)haha

Love love the picture. I have stopped answering blogger questions or giving an opinion it seems that many claim they want it until it isn't exactly what they wanted to hear and then they get upset, so all sunshine and rosey from me from now on. How long do you think that will last (lol)

I like the pictures. I was *trying* to put a picture with every post but I'm too lazy to keep that up.

I was going to say that 2 nights a week seems excessive but I'm at the gym 3 nights a week plus Sunday afternoon so......

We never take a stand ;)

My family used to go rollerskating once a month at least! We loved it! I can still skate backwards better than forwards. Go figure!
Love his flashy bracelet!

From someone who has been skating since I was 14...met her husband and every friend she's ever had from skating...and still would skate every single weekend if life didn't make her so damned tired...I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer (-:

Hey, wanna go skating this weekend??

Two nights a week, not getting home til after midnight? Eff that. Once a week, I suppose. More than 5 times in a month---I would be popping the tire on some of those skates!

Twice a week may be a tad excessive. But if youwent with him one of those times it would not.

BTW Skating Rocks! The reception at our wedding was skating at a roller rink. It was after all a Roller (my last name) Wedding.
