In the Immortal Words of The Human League

Recently I came across a comment (by a company rep) on the post of a big giveaway blogger.

The comment the rep posted was a general suggestion to bloggers (said in a cheerful way), not at all demanding or offensive, so I was taken aback at the terse response she received from the know-it-all blogger and all I could think was "get off your high horse missy!!"

Which also got me to thinking. People can rise so quickly in the blogosphere especially if they are not me do giveaways, that it is easy for them to get all uppity and forget that it was "we" (the commenters and company reps) that put them where they are now. And that we can put them back down too. (not really because my blog carries absolutely no influence - but I like to think that way :D)

Remember a little courtesy goes a long way, no matter what size blogger you are. Silly me, I like to live by this credo in real life too. Agreement is NEVER required on my blog. I'm always up for a healthy debate....

Am I driving yet another spike in my bloggy coffin? - pfffft

You're absolutely right (of course) - it's far better to be pleasant to people. Unless, of course, they cross me. Then I'm a complete haridan. ;)

In all seriousness, if you noticed the bad attitude, others will have too.

BTW, I just scanned down your page and saw the hairy 'pins' - yep, that's a girl with confidence alright!

I have to say I am one that if I don't agree with what's being said I leave the party...10 years ago I probably would have gotten all worked up and let you know exactly how I thought you were wrong, but know I am just too tired and lack the time for the BS. But I don't think it's necessary for anyone or a group of people to attack a person based on a comment. If you own the blog and don't like the comment there is a little button called delete and it can come in mighty handy in eliminating the drama. ;)

Just my thoughts!

I so agree! I have a largish readership. And I never forget why that is. My readers!! I hear a lot of complaints from bloggers who feel bloggers are too big to read other blogs, or comment back, etc.

I don't want to get that way. I can't comment all the time, everytime, but I visit every person who leaves a comment on my blog.

I love my readers.

I don't understand why people can't just be nice to each other....

I am, and always will be opinionated! I have learned through a lifetime of sales to give my opinion diplomatically(most of the time!)...It's not that hard to present your point of view in a way that doesn't offend! Such is my opinion, humble as it may be..:) I like what you're doing!

I agree and though I have won a few things from bloggers in general I skip the giveaways. Especially all the jumping thru hoops they make you do... and mostly all in the name of followers.

I'm not saying I won't ever do a giveaway or review but I hope I do it with class.

Keep up your opinions you have my utmost respect.

I totally agree with you. Courtesy is golden.

I don't get why some bloggers have big egos. I don't get why some big bloggers ARE big bloggers.

I try never to make demands on people who want to enter a giveaway. I think demanding that someone be your follower to enter your contest is silly-don't you want people to follow you ecause they like you? I offer it up as an extra entry on giveaways, but I honestly don't even check if people are followers when they say they are. It's just really not that important to me. Though if someone won based off their "i'm a follower" entry, I would verify. Contests are supposed to be fun. Blogging is supposed to be fun.
Why people would criticize others is beyond me. I barely have time to say hello to the bloggers I enjoy, much less leave a negative comment for no reason.

it's way too easy to get a big head and then be nasty online. too much anonymity to keep people in check. I hope someone would tell me if I was being an ass that way.

I think some people just need to look up the word courtesy...cause they have no idea what it means!
Ummm I gotta go now....$5000 awaits me!

I worry about posts all the time and try to never offend anyone. I can't imagine someone being so callous.
I appreciate every person that leaves a comment on my blog. I always visit them back as well.

I'm so nosy, all I can think is "who was it, where is it, link me up!" When what I really should be saying is "You're absolutely right". And now I've got that song stuck in my head.

It's healthy to debate - but always treat people the way you would like to be treated...right? That's what I'd like to think at least...
Stopping by from SITS to say hi =)

ps - I don't shave my legs either, but I probably would if my hair was that dark... =)

"Let us not speak of them, but look, and pass." I'd say, unless of course you want to post about it ;)
There's a lot of stuff I don't (want to )get in the blog society, thus I'm a sort of outsider :D

I am nice to those who are nice to me. It's easy:) I visit every person who leaves a nice comment on my blog.

In Finland really big bloggers are not nice to little bloggers.

But I know some big (in English) bloggers who are much more nicer than very little bloggers.

I hope we all could be nice to each other:)

I love your blog:)

No kidding! I totally agree with you.
I appreciate everyone who reads my blog. In fact, I'm still kind of shocked that anyone would read my blog.

You MUST direct message me who this is about. I am going crazy wanting to know! :)

Girl... your blog has always been a fatastic place to come and debate... remember when MJ died? That was a hoot! (the debate, not him dying)

You rock.

Blessings!

Yes, I've never understood the compulsion to write angry comments to non-offensive posts.

I totally agree and I think you can disagree with someone and not be snotty about it ya know? It's like the art of debate is lost lol
