One Bitter Blog Post

In reality, this is at least my second or third bitter blog post.

Several events this week have caused me to pause and think how unfair things can be. We tell our kids this over and over, but let's be honest, it really sucks sometimes.

I think VC handles disappointment much better than me. Thank God. Because we all know how well I handle other things, like self-cleaning ovens.

I got the ultimate blog diss the other day when a potential affiliate advertiser declined to appear on my blog, which would have essentially amounted to FREE ADVERTISING for them!! Doh!

I've been "smarting" from some other things (that cannot be mentioned on the blog) and then I tuned in to twitter to see all the happy tweets emanating from Blissdom: "where are you so-and-so, let's meet up" "(blank) is the most funniest person ever" "(blank) has the best business card ever" or overused quotes from songs, i.e. "I have a feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night" and so on....

Which only brought me to the conclusion that I am on the fringe of this big bloggy clique and will forever be on the fringe and that if I can't get someone to appear on my blog *for free* just how crappy a blog is this?????

Fist pump to my fellow fringe bloggers! Middle finger to uppity affiliate marketers! (note: I'm only referring to the uppity ones) As I slowly hammer another nail in my bloggy coffin....

Oh honey you aren't alone! Are you kidding?! Frankly our blogs are in the majority and that's okie dokie with me. You're too sexy for those Blissdom bloggers anyway.

What makes you think just cuz you're not at Blissdom that you're not as important or worthy? That's BS!!!!!

You rock!!!

Hey, what's wrong with the fringe? I like it over here on the fringe just fine.

As for Blissdom, BlogHer, et al., I'd rather save my money and go on a real vacation instead of going to a conference.

Screw that affiliate marketer! If I had anything to hawk, I'd put an ad on your blog.

From one fringe blogger to another: Smooches and hugs!

I think I heard about this whole blissdom deal like two days ago. Obviously, I am not there either. I am workdom instead. I look at it as having different priorities.

Lisa said...

Big hugs!! Don't let them get ya down! It's a loss on their part if they don't want free advertising!
I don't even know how to go about asking someone about that like you do.

I can dig it. But the middle finger may be a tad harsh. You feel what you feel. So rant on sister.

P.s. Your in my Blog Tribe, stop by and see your prize :)

Well I'd never even *heard* of Blissdom so if you're on the fringe I must be in Deep Space Nine!

I like Maureen's comment - I am in workdom instead. Precisely. :)

The people who set trends and really make a difference in society are leaders, not followers so I wouldn't worry if you apparently don't swim with the huge shoal. Frankly there is more space to be creative, out here on the fringe, and you know that you are not alone and that we love you. :)

That's OK. I'm sort of on the fringe too. I'm not really active in all those communities, other than Mormon Mommy Blogs.

Despite my devoted Albanian followers, I'm a fringe blogger, too. Okay, so we aren't sponsored. We are the PBS of the blogging world. Maybe we should start fundraising telethons.

I'm so uncool that I'm sitting here trying to figure out what Blissdom is.....

I'll keep my honest opinion to myself regarding BlogHer and all that stuff ;-) "To each his own" is my nice "pc" comment!

I'm fringe too... I like it that way. Still my blog. :)

I'm just waiting for someone to have a blogging 'thing' in Europe - I want to meet happy smiley bloggers. (I've managed to meet 2 so far, total.)

That sucks about the advertising :(

Fringe is where it's at, Carma! I sometimes feel (when I read the Hate kinds of sites, and those that Poop on Peeps, sort of thing, and those in the middle (full of the drama) of all that, I sometimes feel as if it's like being back at High School, with the most popular people, and our tendency to always feeling Second Rate to them... Then I get a firm hold on myself, and realise that I love where I am and where we are... They aren't All That! xxooxx

Hey! you have lots and lots of comments, what should I say about mine? fringe? I'm not even on the carpet ;D

Hanging here at the fringe with ya sista!!!

Ya know what, your blog ROCKS!!! We all know it!!! So TWO middle fingers at the uppity advertiser!!! As for Blissdom, BlogHer, and all that other stuff...eh, it is high school all over again. That is not why I started blogging.

I was just hanging out with one of my local friends that blogs yesterday and we were both saying how so many of what was once favorite blogs have gotten so caught up in sponsors and advertising and giveaways, that none of them actually blog anymore! It sucks!

Lucy said...

Oh, goodness that sucks! I have not even begun to venture into advertising because they would laugh at my numbers, I blog for fun, you have definitely moved into the fringes which is moving UP, not down!!!!

Secret Mom Thoughts said...

I understand feeling on the fringe myself but don't feel down. You rock.

Kaylen said...

Why would someone reject you?? Free advertising!!! HELLO???!!!! And you are just DARLING - who wouldn't want to spend some time working with you?

I'm on the fringe. I'm happy there. My blog doesn't take over my life, and it doesn't really contribute monetarily to my life-though I do get free stuff here and there and LOVE it, but this is not about making a living as a blogger---it's about keeping your blog as you want it. I think some people sell out just to be IN the fringe.

Who wants to be one of the cool kids anyway? Not me.

Shawn said...

Wow! And you have so many followers----and are amazing---if you are on the fringe----what does that say for me?

I know how you feel, though----its similar to not being able to be popular in high school---but on a strangely bigger scale. Well---I love you anyway----you are awesome!

Keep on keeping on!!!

What the hell is blissdom?

You know I love you and can't stay away. It seems that I am not the only one who feels this way.

I mean, really, I get hearts over my head whenever I see you have a new post.

We fringers really have all of the fun though, we don't have to ass kiss. Hope you have a better week!

Do you know how many times very talented people were rejected before someone with brains took notice? And rejected multiple times?

The list is a mile long--google it.

(Think Harry Potter...JK Rowling)

And Blissdom? Please. It's ONE event. One event that in no reflects or defines what you do EVERY DAY.

Chin up. Be kind to yourself. Hope you feel good as new soon. hugs.

No worries dear. I'm right here on the fringes with ya. I don't seem to see any door opening for me any time soon either. Ah well.. the company here is great though. ;-)

Well, I love your blog, and what jerks they are!
I've never heard of Blissdom or fringe. I'm a little confused about the whole thing :)

Janna Bee said...

I love your blog, you know that! Also, I am a fellow fringer, too sarcastic to be a true Mom blogger, yet too sappy NOT to be. I feel, I do. I've always been on the fringes, so why would my blog be any different?

Also. I like the fringers better, just sayin'.
