Is Your Man a Murse Man?

Did anyone see the clip from the Today show about murses yesterday morning? It was quite funny, especially the hockey player with the "clutch bag."

I'm all for a guy with a messenger bag, but I'm not sure that I can see MB carrying one, nor any of the other newer manbag styes. I should clarify: He would never carry a murse. Period. - MB being the type who always says things like, "can you fit my sunglasses in your bag?"

In the photo above, it is a combination Ove Glove/Murse! (I've really gotta take some new pics of MB since I use them so often - in fact, I believe this photo was taken prior to his drastic weight loss - you remember that one right? The diet where he GAINED weight in order to lose weight. You can read about it here- in the Fully Deflated post.)

But I digress; the point of this post was my curiosity if any of your men carry a murse or are open to the murse idea.

[to show you how blase MB has gotten about the blog, at bedtime I mentioned, "oh, you will be on the blog tomorrow." Him, "doing what?" Me: "Grilling with the Ove Glove while holding a murse." Him: "[gosh] that picture's so old; can't you get a newer one?]

Love it and the shinny plastic is the best part. You have a great husband to be a willing participant in your blog.

My hubby doesn't carry a bag of his own unless it's a laptop case - but he will carry mine for me when I get tired, even if my bag is pink and flowery, and for this he deserves all the husband-credit in the world! :D

A 'murse'. Well that's another new word to file away. When I read the header I thought that was a new term for a male nurse!

No, my husband's strictly a backpack man and only then when we go on holiday. I think those satchell bags look quite cool, but a murse? I'd need to be persuaded on that one!

That's a great pic!

Love your blog! Left you an award on mine.

The only thing my DH will carry around is a backpack. Though it would be funny to see him walking around with a "murse".

From the Geiko commercial... It's a European shoulder bag!
For some reason purses were a popular gift this year at our extended family Christmas. Everytime someone opened one, my brother in laws would pipes up, "Oh! It's a European shoulder bag!"

hahaha! I think I turned the channel as they were showing the man bags or murses. My husband would never even carry a messenger bag. In the summer, he wears cargo shorts most of the time, so he just stuffs everything in the pockets. Otherwise, he doesn't really have anything but his wallet and keys. Oh wait, he does use a backpack when he needs to...usually mountain biking or riding the motorcycle. Wow, what a ramble!

Leland with a murse? Not in a gazillion years. He is such a minimalist. All he carries are his keychain with only 2 keys, his wallet that has his drivers license and insurance cards and maybe a few dollars and a knife. If he can't fit it into his pockets he won't carry it.

I am really interested to see if the murse thing takes off.

Are you kidding me? Of course he would! But only if he knew people were watching and to get a good reaction. Day to day, no freakin' way.

ManDork is definitely not a murse man. But he carries my purse for me all the time!

He says that anybody who would look down on a guy carrying a purse for his gal is a fool...because he's GOT a gal to carry a purse for! :)

haha! LOVE this photo!

My husband carries a messenger bag with his laptop in it to work daily, and I guess that could be considered a murse? Not sure though!

Yeah, right...never in a million years. The hubby is too manly for a "man bag" But wait, did you say gain weight to loose weight? I am going to check it out now!!

Someone could cut my arms off in a fight & my husband STILL wouldnt pick up my purse to carry it! :)

No way. My fiance wouldn't do it in a million years!

I saw that on the Today Show :-)

I thought ALL the bags were great and masculine, EXCEPT for the Clutch! LOL...OMG, I thought that was pushing it a bit (okay, a lot).

My boyfriend carries either a Backpack or a laptop bag that also holds his PDA, etc.

I tried to get him to buy a Messenger Bag, because why the heck not? I think he though it was silly. However, he'd be smarter if he got one b/c I just make him hold my extremely heavy purse all the time. :-)

My husband would not carry a murse and if he did I would not be seen with him carrying it.
Yours looks fabulous with his blue one tho! LOL

Your hubs is such a good sport!!! Love the pic!!!

Nope...no murses for my guy! Like yours, he is always wanting to shove things in my bag if he can. The closest he gets is his work briefcase.

lol My husband got a new laptop from work, and it came in a backpack, of all things. His old one had just a regular laptop case, like a briefcase style. He got the backpack and for a minute, I think he freaked out about it. He said he started singing the backpack song from Dora, and his co-workers were all having a good time making fun of each other for having laptops in backpacks.

As far as purses go, I don't carry one. I keep my wallet and cellphone in my pants pockets, and only carry a purse if I absolutely have to. They're a pain in the butt.

It's a struggle to get the hubs to carry a diaper bag. We had to get him a manly version as he refused to carry mine.

LOL your blog conversation with MB is hilarious! I know I have told you a million times but I have to say it again, I love how creative you are with your pictures! Makes me laugh EVERY time:)

My husband doesn't carry a murse. I do think its funny when he walks off with my wallet to go pay for something. He might actually like having one.....lol

I was just thinking the other day when I noticed that one of my shopping totes was missing that I bet DialogDog took it to carry his stuff in and doesn't want to admit that he's carrying around a flowered "murse"...

He is a great sport!!
I don't know any men who carry a murse, but I love the idea. Why not, it's practical! It makes sense!

Andy's clearly in the "carry my stuff" camp. In fact, now I'm lugging around a backpack to haul both our stuff around.

No murses here...I'm glad to carry my hubby's things if it means he won't carry one himself. I like a good messenger bag though...

Haha well I'm not married but that definitely looks like a woman's purse to me!!! Murse, hmm? Never heard of it before!

No matter the size, Mr. Fairway would probably call it a gym bag...

Thank you for keeping me in the news because I had no idea there was a 'murse' bag and NO my husband would not carry it. The only thing he carries is a brief case filled with work otherwise I get the same question, "Will my glasses fit in your purse?"

Rachel said...

Murse. hahaha that's awesome. My hubby won't carry anything like that - unless he's holding mine. which has happened on many occasion!

Thanks for stopping by!

Yep, no way would my husband carry a murse, but you bet I would blog about it if he did :)

great photo, sweet husband.

I'm not ready for murses or men with purses - at all. I had to talk my man into getting a messenger bag instead of using my recyclable grocery bags for his briefcase. After weeks and weeks he finally purchased a nice one. But ya know what? Now that I think about it he never returned my eco bags. Never mind that I have about 20 or so in my trunk right now. They are my thing and I want them back :-)

And for the record I missed the Today Show spot about murses. And MB is so manly, he needs to continue to have you hold his glasses in your purse.
