It's Alarming

That my morning wake-up routine looks a little like this:

Alarm on night table goes off at this time:

Second "backup" alarm all the way across king size sleep number bed goes off at this time:

Yet, after hitting snooze a multitude of times, the actual time of getting out of bed is this time:

Pathetic! I've read that the time spent snoozing in between the snooze alarms is NOT productive sleep. And yet, I can't see to break this habit.

Have you ever wondered what algorithm is used to come up with the perfect amount of snooze time; why seven minute intervals and not five?

Unrelated topic (DWTS): Is Len extra harsh on Mya or what? Is Kelly a Drama Queen? Much as I want her to go far in the competition (and admire her for overcoming her struggles with addiction), when I see her whining over her sprained ankle and being taken off the hospital in an ambulance - an ambulance - the the Emergency Room??? I have to wonder what would happen if we normal folk showed up at the Emergency department for a twisted foot. Srsly, room filled with swine flu patients and this is a medical emergency????

Joanna - I won't go there.

Is anyone else unable to remove obsolete blogs from their google reader? I have tried several times to unsubscribe and yet they remain in the reader. Also went to the sites to "unfollow" from friend connect, yet they are still there - grrrrrr

P.S. Today is the last day to enter my flat greeting card/postcard giveaway!

Blessings!

I set my alarm for 6:15 every morning. This morning I didn't get out of bed until 7:15, which means I don't have time to do anything except get dressed and run out the door. I didn't even have time to brush my teeth or hair. I am a mess this morning.

If I get out of bed on time I can look presentable at work. Today I am thankful no one else is in the office because I am so aware of the smell my body is giving off. Gross.

Note to self: GET OUT OF BED ON TIME!!!

And I DVR dancing with the stars so I can watch it via fast forward. It works out well because I don't have to watch any of the rehearsal crap or dancers I don't really care about (like Melissa Joan Hart). I don't even listen to the judges. All I really care about is the dancing and final scores. When I watch it in fast forward I can get through the 2 hour show in 20 minutes. Awesome.

I'm the annoying person who doesn't need an alarm clock.

I must be the only person to use the dashboard! I don't know what it is, but I don't like google reader....

and the sound of an alarm is like nails on a chalkboard to me. My husband doesn't use the snooze button, but he lays in bed for at least 15 minutes after it goes off.

that alarm clock thing... that's the funniest ever!!!

even though i don't have to wake and get ready for work till 8 AM.. my poor, poor hubby has to at 5:30... and even while laying in bed i have to keep an eye out for him.. he's TOTALLY been known to turn the alarm off and then lay on the floor beside the bed... and i kid you not.. this is the TRUTH!!

I set our alarm for 6am and hubby will sometimes get out of bed at that time. When he gets back from his bath, dressed and leaves, is when I finally wake up enough to watch a little news or something tivoed before I get up at 6:40 or so. I'm downstairs by 7.
If one daughter isn't up by 7, the morning will be a disaster.

i haaaaaate alarm clocks...seriously they just make me want to cry. but i have an amazing internal clock for some reason....and 3 kids that never sleep in, so alarm clocks are null and void over here!! lol

Google reader does the same for me! Grrrr
I like Kelly..I think a lot of that is to get attention for the show, maybe not so much for her.
My phone snoozes for 10 miutes. I don't think it is productive either. I also don't understand people who set the clocks forward 15 or 30 minutes...they did it so they know it is not the correct time!

I wake up when the kids wake up usually around 6:30. On days they sleep late, hubby's alarm/snooze wakes me up.

PS Dave buries the smashed hard drive in the yard in a couple different spots. I'm not kidding.

Ha! Love your blog. Found it through Amanda!

Not sure about the google reader thing. I still use the dashboard.

Lucky you, you get to seep until almost 7!! My alarm first goes off at 4am, then I turn it off and reset it for 4:40.

I'm like that too. I can't just "wake up and get out of bed." I have to get that snooze time in. You feel like your cheating the alarm clock or something or maybe I'm just a slow riser. Lol.

My alarm clock comes and stands by my bed every morning and stares at me until I get up.

It's my son. I'm not completely crazy but that would be cool if your alarm clock could shake you awake, right?

I use my dashboard too! Never tried Google reader to be honest.

We don't use an alarm clock. We also don't have to get up to go to work. Both the hubster and I work from home which makes it VERY nice. When we had an office job, we would set the alarm, but usually got up before it went off. I know. It stinks. Lately, we haven't been sleeping well, so we sleep later in the morning. Gotta get out of that habit! How do you like your sleep number bed?

hahahaha...i love this post. I do the EXACT same thing! I am REALLY bad.

You are too sweet....in response to your comment regarding me not leaving the house unless I am "dressed"....I wish that was the truth! :) I have to wear scrubs all week (I go sans makeup with hair pulled back to allow me an extra 30 minutes of sleep) haha! I will have to post a daytime weekday photo sometime!

Oh, how I envy you! My alarm goes off at 5 every morning. Not fun, chica...

I'm lucky my husband wakes me up with a cup of coffee. I drink that then I get up and make lunches.

I remove blogs by going to manage subscriptions and then unsubscribe and then they go away!!

I think you're in good shape with the alarm! I'm serious about what I'm going to say. I set mine for 5 and I end up resetting it so many times that I get up at 10:30 am (on a good day.)

6:45 a.m. is inhumane. :o(

Before kids, when I had to use an alarm clock, I was addicted to the snooze button too. I don't get it...you set your alarm 30+ minutes early so you can hit snooze and sleep like crap those minutes...you're not alone my friend!!

Lol at perfect snooze time!
